It seems like just yesterday that Mike and I were brainstorming and creating this website. The years have gone by so quickly and I guess that is because I was having so much fun. The couples and their families have been wonderful and fabulous. Last year I was diagnosed with breast cancer and thanks to Mike, KathE, Karen, Karyn, and many others I am a survivor and am back to running a 100 miles an hour keeping up with my work load. However, running two businesses is a little stressful and I've decided to choose one and reduce the work load. Life is too short to be all work and no play. Live today like there is no tomorrow.
Mike and I are working together in real estate and loving every minute of it. It is exciting to have wedding clients become real estate clients. Dre and Star, were married a year ago and have recently purchased their first home. We are so happy for them. Star, jokingly said that I now need to become a Lamaze instructor so I can be there at the birth of their first child. I would love that.
So many couples have become close friends and have stayed in touch as their families grow. I am honored that they share their families with me and I would like to thank each of them for doing so.
Check out our new website at http://www.GreatHawaiianHomes.com we would love to see you there and if there is anything I can do for you please don't hesitate to give me a ring and we can,
chat over coffee.....

I've already said this but I'll say it again, "I love wedding planning." It doesn't matter how many weddings I plan or if I've known you for a short period or you're someone I've known since childhood - I still feel misty eyed and touched for being allowed to participate in such a sacred event. Wedding Planning and Event Coordination allows me to utilize all my past life experiences to bring together and direct the details of events and weddings. I remember as a little girl for Halloween I dressed up as a bride three years in a row. Can you believe that... one of my adult passions revealed as a child.
Professionally speaking, my background allows me to be the best wedding coordinator I can be. I learned the financial side of running a business while working for a national magazine and TV show called Hawaiian Heavywater or H3O. I was there when it was only two owners struggling to make it to when it became a national surfing icon in the 80's and early 90's.
Then it was on to running a restaurant and night club, both front and back of the house. This required me to understand service, food preparation, presentation and booking entertainment, as well as having an eye for detail when walking through a room, which is very important for every aspect of wedding planning and event planning.
Next on my way to law school, I worked as a Legal Assistant/Para-legal which widened my knowledge of law and contracts. However, after deep thought and soul searching I decided to follow my dream of becoming a full-time wedding coordinator/event planner.
It seems as if all of my life choices have lead me to wedding planning and event coordination. I thrive in this profession. Being a wedding planer/event coordinator requires a person to be able to multi-task, make difficult decisions in a matter of seconds, someone who loves challenge, stress and chaos, and most of all PEOPLE.
Communication is the key. No matter how stressing the situation, a calm head, soft voice, and respect for those you are working with allows difficult situations and challenges to be handled smoothly.
Since I'm going to get to know so much about you, I'll share a little about myself. I'm married to a wonderful man who supports all that I do. I have a son who is in high school who makes parenting fun and easy. A golden retriever named Samantha who thinks she is human and a gift from my husband, Shiloh a twelve year old quarter horse, who allows me to get away from the craziness of the world and back to nature. Of course there is more but we need to get back to planning your event.
Update for 2005... someone recently sent an email that said my website has not been updated for a while and she was correct. My son has graduated from high school and is quite the young man. We now have three horses instead of one. Ellie and Princess Buttercup are our two newest additions. We stumbled on to Ellie, quarter horse, and she is the dream horse we all want, she goes anywhere and loves people. Princess Buttercup, Clydesdale, loves people too but has yet to build her confidence. As for me, I've recently become a Harry Potter fan and am somewhat bummed that I'm almost done reading the series which means I'll now have to anxiously await the next and last release of the series.
Gayle, Weddings and Lifetime Events is now entering our fifth year planning weddings and events and the passion and excitement with each event is the same the first wedding I did.
Destination Weddings are becoming one of our specialties. The couples and their families we meet at each event never cease to amaze me. They have all traveled from afar to come together for their special family members destination wedding and the love and kinship we are honored to be a part of is special. I often feel like I have become an honorary family member for the day. Destination Weddings are no longer difficult to plan due to this wonderful internet system and the Inner Office site that is offered to our couples. I look forward to the Destination Weddings of 2006 and hope to establish even more connections with our couples and their families.
